Partnering with us:

TRANSPORTS & LOGISTICS

Héctor Pourtalé
Executive Director

Why Movement Health is looking to collaborate with transport and logistics companies in multiple countries.

At Movement Health, we recognise that partnerships and collaboration are crucial if we want to transform global healthcare systems. Moreover, these partnerships need to extend to all sectors of the economy, including:

  • Transport and logistics.
  • Global banking and financial services.
  • IT strategy consulting.
  • Health insurance.
  • Genetic variation and biological function.

All of these sectors and industries have moved with the times, introducing changes that have allowed them to stay competitive and relevant. By contrast, the healthcare sector has lagged behind and is struggling to cope with demand, which is only going to increase in the future. That’s why it’s so important for healthcare to tap into other industries and learn from their innovation, knowledge and efficiency.

Here’s why transport and logistics companies are so central to our thinking.

How you could help us

The number of people aged 65 and over is projected to increase by 820 million globally by 2050. Systems are therefore under pressure to eliminate inefficiencies and waste in their supply chains and improve customer service, material handling and inventory management. This is where transport and logistics can play a vital role.

Boosting healthcare worldwide is dependent on efficient supply chain management. There’s no point in improving health services or increasing the amount of vital medicines if people can’t access them when needed. By leveraging the expertise, infrastructure and technology of a transport and logistics partner, Movement Health is looking to improve efficiency, increase transparency and meet regulatory requirements without decreasing the quality of patient care.

For example, logistics companies could facilitate preventative health approaches by reducing transportation costs and increasing capacity. We’re also interested in leveraging technology to automate and streamline supply chains. One medical transport company has used drones to deliver more than one million COVID-19 vaccinations to remote healthcare facilities in Ghana, for instance.

Innovation can also reduce the number of touchpoints for medical products and equipment, and increase transparency, so products can be tracked as they move from manufacturer to patient. Certain medicines require temperature-sensitive shipping and would benefit from a logistics provider’s existing infrastructure.

In addition, improving warehouse efficiency can eliminate any redundant expenses, which is critical in healthcare logistics. Firms are now using robots or AI to assist with the likes of rigorous quality control and more accurate and efficient labelling and dispatch. Regulations often change, so it’s cost-effective to store products in shared facilities and split the regulatory costs with others.

How you will benefit

Partnering with Movement Health allows your company to help guide the future of health systems and gives you access to the top health thinkers in 17 countries. Boosting your expertise in healthcare logistics is essential for staying on top of fast-moving regulatory changes, so we’ll give you a front-row seat in facilitating these shifts.

Working together, we want to transform global supply chains. We want to make them adaptable enough to create new solutions that can support the growing changes in healthcare, from hospitals to more cost-effective locations (such as patients’ homes). All such innovations must be driven by data and make better use of advanced tools to establish clear demand signs that optimise inventory levels.

Our logistics partners can also collaborate with each other on how to create more effective transportation and warehousing strategies, and how to manage constant changes in regulatory compliance, product complexity and points of care. It’s only by working together that we can solve these challenges and improve outcomes.

We want to hear from you

We want to partner with transport and logistics companies that can help us power world- changing supply chain innovations across global healthcare systems. We’re looking for organisations with the knowledge base and leadership credentials to challenge the status quo.

If this sounds like you, then please get in touch. Our Executive Director, Héctor Pourtalé, can tell you more about the process of becoming a partner of Movement Health.
